The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a new respiratory virus that has not been previously identihed. It belongs to a broad family of viruses named Coronaviruses. The infamous SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) viruses, identified in 2003 and 2012, respectively, belong to the same family.
